Welcome to Xpat Madeira, the new lighthearted and slightly satirical look at life in Madeira. This is a site that will hopefully lighten up your day by offering you a different outlook of the island and if you are new or want to move here, can see that our community does still have a sense of humour!

With the advent of Easy Jet and Aer Lingus joining the row of carriers flying to Madeira,

tourism is expected to receive an extra boost with the cheaper flights. The low cost

airline Easy Jet has opened up two new routes to Madeira, one from Stanstead and

the other from Bristol. Aer Lingus will fly directly from Dublin. Other airlines from

other countries have also expanded their routes as well. Icelandic Company, Sterling

Airlines now fly from Copenhagen on Mondays.

Yorkshire Airlines are also considering Madeira as a new destination to fly to as they recently did a study and found that 90% of their passengers who filled in a questionnaire about the place they most wanted to visit on holiday chose Madeira. 89% of those were aged between 65 & 90 years old and 99% of the survey said that they thought Madeira was part of Spain and that it would be nice to make a change from taking their twice yearly vacation to the Costa del Crime.

Yorkshire Airline passengers are so enthralled at the prospect of the new route that the airline was forced into taking a ‘maiden trip’ last month and the short film of this event is being shown as you read this. It will also beat the other low airline firms with their competitive prices as Yorkshire airlines have done away with the ticket and booking system and will be providing the new service on a ‘chip in on the petrol cost’ basis.
